1. WELCOME, INTRODUCTION, and ROLL CALL.

2. ACTION ITEM: Reading and Approval of the Agenda.

3. PUBLIC COMMENT: Items not on today’s agenda, but within the jurisdiction of the MDC. Each speaker is limited to three minutes.

4. INFORMATION ITEM: Report from Co-Chair Zarda.

5. INFORMATION ITEM: Report from the Director of the Mayor’s Office on Disability.

6. INFORMATION ITEM: Impacts of Transportation Network Companies on the Disability Community in San Francisco. Transportation Network Companies (TNC) such as Uber, Lyft and Sidecar, allow passengers to use an app to request a pick-up in a privately owned car. The TNCs are regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The disability community has raised concerns that these new transportation services may not be accessible to people with disabilities. Presentation by Christiane Hayashi, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Deputy Director of Taxis and Accessible Services and Kate Toran, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Paratransit Manager.

7. INFORMATION ITEM: ADA Transition Plan Capital Projects for FY 2015 and FY 2016. An annual update on requested capital funds to provide design and construction on the remainder of the City’s ADA Transition Plan projects. Information on other ADA Transition Plan projects that are currently in design and construction. Presentation by John Paul Scott, Deputy Director for Physical Access, Mayor’s Office on Disability.

8. INFORMATION ITEM: Play Area ADA Checklist: An overview of the Play Area ADA Checklist for new City playgrounds and recommended design policy. This policy will impact nearly 30 new accessible play areas scheduled for construction in Parks & Recreation centers over the next three years. Presentation by John Paul Scott, Deputy Director for Physical Access, Mayor’s Office on Disability.

Accessible Meeting Information

City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other assistive mobility devices. Wheelchair access is provided at the Grove, Van Ness and McAllister streets via ramps. Wheelchair access at the Polk Street/ Carlton B. Goodlett entrance is provided through a wheelchair lift. Assistive listening devices are available and the meeting itself will be real-time captioned and sign language interpreted. Agendas are available in large print and Braille. Other materials are available in alternative formats upon request.

The nearest accessible BART station is Civic Center Plaza at the intersection of Market, Grove, and Hyde Streets. The accessible MUNI Metro lines are the J, K, L, M, and N (Civic Center Station or Van Ness Avenue Station). MUNI bus lines serving the area are the 47 Van Ness, 9 San Bruno, and the 6, 7, 71 Haight/ Noriega. Accessible curbside parking is available on 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.

In order to assist the City in accommodating persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, please refrain from wearing scented products to MDC Meetings or when visiting the MOD Office. This includes perfume, scented lotions, detergents, or hairsprays, etc. Thank you for helping us to provide meetings that are fully accessible to all people with disabilities.
