Zoe Garvin is a native San Franciscan with a strong commitment tocommunity work, criminal justice, and youth development. Her work withMOCJ grantees is informed by the CBO perspective she brings to theposition -- an in-depth understanding of the inter-workings of the CBOinfrastructure, and first hand knowledge of best-practices in violenceprevention programming. Ms. Garvin has a background in Health Educationand Harm Reduction with a Bachelors of Science from San Francisco StateUniversity, and over nine years of experience working in the nonprofitsector both as a direct service provider and administrator.
Prior to MOCJ, she served for over five years as the ExecutiveDirector of a community based organization in the Mission District. AsDirector, she created an administrative infrastructure that supported amultitude of community programs with an emphasis on violence preventionand youth development, serving a total of 80,000 youth and adults eachyear. Ms. Garvin has served on the board of a number of community basedorganizations, has worked as a consultant in technical assistance,grant-writing, and program development for various organizations ancommunity-led initiatives, and has facilitated numerous workshops andtrainings on grant-writing, youth leadership development, harmreduction, and academic enrichment. In addition to her background inviolence prevention and youth development, she has worked as a directservice provider in the fields of domestic violence, reproductivehealth access, and needle exchange/harm reduction.
