Roland Wong
| I am a native San Franciscan raised in Chinatown and currently living in the Parkside district. I was born with Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia (SED), one type of dwarfism. Being a little person doesn't stop me from helping others. It is my desire to help others. It all started while working in the healthcare industry over 30 years ago, first as an EKG Technician at US Public Health Service Hospital and later as an Accredited Records Technician for 25 years at Laguna Honda Hospital. I retired in 2005. Since retirement, I have developed a passion for community advocacy. My work includes being a Peer Mentor with the In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority; serving as a Member of the SF Muni Accessible Advisory Committee (MAAC) and being a Member of SF Paratransit Coordinating Council. I received recognition awards from SF Board of Supervisors and the SF Paratransit Coordinating Council in appreciation of advocacy work within the City. As I join forces with the Mayor's Office on Disability team, I am privileged to further assist others in the community. | |
