MISSION STATEMENT OF SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY FACILITY COMMISSION

To advocate and encourage the promotion of special services for the improvement of entrepreneurial business opportunity, health, safety, welfare of residents in the Southeast Sector of the City and to promote diversity as well as the professional development of its employees.

 

 

AGENDA

Request for public comment may also be heard after Commission discussion of an agenda item by completing an information card and submitting it to the Commission secretary.  Requests are given “first come, first serve” priority and speakers may be limited to three minutes.

 

 

1.0     ROLL CALL 

 

2.0     SUNSHINE ORDINANCE AND AUDIO RECORDING POLICY:  The Sunshine Ordinance prohibits the use of electronic sound-producing devices at/during public meetings.  Please be advised the Chairperson may remove any person(s) from the meeting room responsible for the ringing or use of cell phones, pagers and similar sound-producing electronic devices.

 

3.0     ADOPTION OF MINUTES

 

3.1     PROPOSED ACTION: Be it resolved that the minutes of the Commission meeting of Wednesday, September 23, 2015 be approved as submitted.

 

4.0     CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT (5 MIN)

Approved Recommendation to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission from the full Southeast Community Facility Commission to fully fund the security recommendations of The Consulting Group (TCG) as presented to the Governance-Facility Advisory Committee on September 1, 2015.

6.0     ADVISORY COMMITTEES REPORTS

Governance-Facility Advisory Committee, (Chair, Commissioner Steve Good, Commission Member, Commissioner Eddy Zheng Community Members, James Autry, Torrance Bynum, John Chung, Greg Doxey, Dr. Espanola Jackson, Siri Datta Khalsa, Tempi Priestly,  Alma Robinson, Robert Woods)

 

Goal: Develop an action plan to outline the next steps to carry out the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the use of the facility and establish tenant rents at market rates and process for administering the tenant agreements as well as receiving allocation of San Mateo & Presidio collection fees for the Southeast Community.

The next meeting of the Governance-Facility Advisory Committee will be Monday, October 19, 2015 at 2 pm in the Bungalow Conference Room at 1800 Oakdale Avenue.

 

Health, Housing & Public Safety Advisory Committee, (Chair, Commissioner LaVaughn King, Commission Member, Commissioner Janine Greer Community Members, Dan Goldman, Louise C. Jones, Lyslynn LaCoste, Dr. Harrison Parker, Onika Shabazz, Veronica Shepard)

 

Goal: To advocate and increase awareness of health problems affecting the Bayview Hunters Point residents.  Sponsor an annual Health Fair educating the community about nutrition, fitness, prevention & treatment of chronic health conditions and promote a lifestyle encouraging community families to build healthy bodies and minds.

 

Update from the 2015 Southeast Community Facility Commission Annual Health Fair held on Saturday, October 3, 2015.

The Health Fair debriefing meeting will be held on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 12 noon, Radio Africa & Kitchen located at 4800 3rd Street.

 

Economic Development Advisory Committee, (Chair, Commissioner Eddy Zheng, Commission Member, Commissioner Al Norman, Community Members, Eli Goldman, Tempe Priestly, Shamann Walton)

 

Goal:  To advocate and encourage entrepreneurial business opportunity in the Southeast Sector.  Sponsor an annual Job/Career Fair to connect public and private sector employers with the Southeast Community.  Provide non-perishable food donations for local community based organizations to serve needy Southeast Community residents during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays.

 

The next meeting of the Economic Development Advisory Committee will be Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Alex Pitcher, Jr. Community Room.

 

 

7.0     PRESENTATION (10 MIN)-Q&A (5 MIN)

Ms. Debra Gore-Mann, Executive Director, San Francisco Conservation Corps

TOPIC:  SF Conservation Corps program and how it will benefit the residents of the Bayview community.

 

 

8.0     ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION AND ACTION

Discuss the Recommendation to the Southeast Community Facility Commission from the Governance-Facility Advisory Committee to utilize the services of Renaissance/Tempi Priestly and hire Ambassadors with Guard Cards to provide security at the Southeast Community Facility Commission meetings.

 

Discuss the Recommendation to the Southeast Community Facility Commission to move forward with Bay Area Video Coalition to provide videography coverage of Commission and Committee meetings.

 

Discussion on continuing to hold Commission Meetings at off-site locations.

Meetings and Disability Access

The Southeast Community Facility Commission meetings are held twice monthly as follows:  2nd (second) Wednesday and 4th (fourth) Wednesday of each month (unless otherwise posted at least 72 hours prior to meeting date).

 

Meetings are held in the evenings (6 p.m.) at 1800 Oakdale Avenue, Alex L. Pitcher, Jr. Community Room, (this room is often used by government agencies and officials when scheduling town meetings).  All meetings are open to the public and welcome comments from community members.

 

The closest BART Station is located at Glen Park.  Accessible MUNI Lines serving this location are the #23 Monterey, #24 Divisadero, and #44 O’Shaunessey.  There is accessible parking available in the Southeast Community Facility parking lot and ample off-street parking on Oakdale and Phelps Street.

 

The Southeast Community Facility is a “SMOKE-FREE” environment; whereas smoking is prohibited inside the building.  Accessible integrated seating is available for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs).

 

Individuals with other disabilities can also be accommodated, provided advance notice is given by contacting the office of the Southeast Community Facility Commission at (415) 821-1534.

 

 

  1. Sign language interpreters with at least a 48 hour notice prior to meeting.
  2. Sound enhancement system with at least one-week notice prior to meeting.
  3. Minutes of meeting in large print, tape form, and/or readers upon request.

   

Severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities should contact the Accessibility Hotline at (415) 554-8925 to discuss meeting accessibility.
