1.0               Call to Order
Commissioner Bobbrie Brown called the Wednesday, March 28, 2007 meeting to order at 6:13 p.m. in the Alex L. Pitcher Community Room at 1800 Oakdale Avenue.

Commissioner Brown read the Sunshine Ordinance aloud.
 

            1.2            Roll Call: Commissioners Present:  Brown, Jones, Fuentes, Churchwell, Kennedy, Parker

Commissioner Excused: Kenneth Sampson


Staff Present: Toye Moses, Executive Director; Annette Price, SECF Comm. Secretary.

 

            1.3                    Consent Calendar

          RESOLUTION (SECFC-2007-77) Be it resolved that the minutes of the Southeast Community Facility Commission meeting of Thursday, March 8, 2007 were approved as submitted.

2.0                 PUBLIC COMMENT
Mr. Samuel Murray distributed SFPUC Human Resource Services Employment Notice for the 9910 PUBLIC SERVICE TRAINEE positions. There are seven available positions slated for 94124 residents. Application deadline is April 16, 2007.

Thurgood Marshall Academy and the SFPUC will host Career Day on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. PUC is seeking guest speakers from various professions to share fine points on their careers. A contact sheet was distributed for those interested in participating.

3.0                 COMMUNICATIONS:

Ø      Correspondence included in Commission folders:

a.    Correspondence dated March 13, 2007 re:  SF Community Challenge Grant Program

b.   Memo from Dr. Parker re: Assignment of Priorities for ad hoc committees.

 

Once the SF Community Challenge Grant Program forwards results of the score sheets, Dir. Moses stated he would pass that on to the Commission.

Commissioner Brown said that Commissioner Parker’s request would be addressed once she has had a chance to absorb it.  

4.0                 DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Dir. Moses reported:

a.       There has been several auto break-ins @ the Facility. As a result, SFPD has been patrolling the neighborhood.

Dir. Moses asked that staff be directed to send a letter to Campus Police Chief requesting more visibility when patrolling building perimeter. Commissioner Brown suggested that staff determine whether PUC could allocate additional funding for surveillance cameras.

b.      The new security vendor, A-1 Protective Services will begin guard service for SECFacility on Monday, April 2.

c.       Mayor’s jurisdictional transfer of the four childcare centers is moving forward and should take effect by October 1st.

MOTION: Moved by Jones, seconded by Parker/Fuentes to accept the Director’s Report. Motion passed unanimously to accept report as presented (6-0).

 

7.0                 INTRODUCTION OF NEW BUSINESS BY COMMISSIONERS:
Dir. Moses reviewed upcoming presenters for the next several months. Commissioner Jones suggested that SFUSD Interim Superintendent Gwen Chan‘s presentation date be rescheduled prior to June.

Commissioner Brown suggested that BVHP attorney be invited to present on probate properties involving seniors. She also suggested that Mr. James Blanding be invited for update on senior housing at Providence and that Mr. Yomi Agunbiade, SF Park & Rec be invited for update on the Joseph Lee Gym renovation.

6.0                 PUBLIC COMMENT:
Mr. Tony Caruso and Ms. Gabrielle Rudolph of Decorative Plants made comment on the auto vandalism and trespassing recently taking place at the Decorative Plant facility.
 

7.0                 ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Dir. Moses announced that staff would schedule a security meeting shortly to discuss security issues and plans of action.

8.0                 ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
