Mayor Lee’s Statement Urging Congress to Pass Extension of Surface Transportation Bill & Invest in Infrastructure
Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement urging Congress to pass an extension of the Surface Transportation Bill, which expires at the end of September, and an extension of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization, which expires in mid-September:
“As we approach Labor Day this weekend, let us reflect on the number one issue that is facing our cities today – jobs, jobs, jobs!
I join President Obama and leaders from across our country to urge Congress to reach a bipartisan agreement extending the surface transportation bill and continuing this critical investment in our cities, so that the gains we have made will keep Americans working, further invest in rebuilding our infrastructure and keep our cities moving forward in the right direction.
In San Francisco, we are creating jobs by creating a 21st century transportation system that connects our communities through projects such as the Central Subway and the Transbay Terminal projects.”
