02/16/11- Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the passing of Carolene Marks:

 

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Carolene Marks, the widow of former State Senator Milton Marks.  She served on our City’s Commission on the Status of Women with distinction, was a champion on issues concerning women and health for decades, and was a resilient breast cancer survivor. She was a source of strength for many who knew her, and today San Francisco mourns this loss. I thank the Marks family for their historic and continued public service to San Francisco. Her family, friends and all who loved her are in our thoughts and prayers.”
