The Immigrant Rights Commission (IRC) special meeting was held on Tuesday, June 6, 2000 in the Hearing Room 416 at 2:00 p.m. in the City Hall.

Presentation |
Dr. Chou, Associate Superintendent for Student Support Services of the San Francisco Unified School District, spoke to the Commission about the district’s commitment to provide the best educational program to all students. She indicated that there are on-going efforts to work with Filipino parents to better address the needs of the Filipino immigrant students. Dr. Chou also provided the Commission with the reason for recommending that the Board of Education move the Newcomer High School to another location. According to Dr. Sally Chou, Newcomer High School students will have better access to academic courses, especially science courses, which are required to graduate from high school. |

The Commission passed unanimously the resolution to voice their support to the Filipino Education Center. |
