Commissioner Brown called the meeting to order at 2:10 p.m.

- Cultural Equity Program Director’s Report
Commissioner Cuellar made the following motion:
Motion to approve the following individuals for the Cultural Equity Grants panel pool:
June Watanabe, dancer and choreographer
Carol Seajay, publisher and editor
Steve Suzuki, architect with Asian Neighborhood Design
Janice Garrett, choreographer
The motion passed unanimously.
- Community Arts and Education Program Director’s Report
Before Mr. Newirth introduced the following motion, he stated that the CAE staff had been handling the difficult MPP approval process professionally.
Commissioner Johnston said that bringing the MPP process up-to-date might have been painful for all the Centers but that the Centers and the Commission will reap the benefit from the rigor the CAE staff placed on all the Centers.
Commissioner Johnston made the following motion:
Motion to approve the proposed Bayview Opera House, Ruth Williams Memorial Theater, Inc. 2005-2006 Management and Programming Plan ("MPP") and Budget for a grant not to exceed $276,848, from Cultural Center Line Item Hotel Tax Funds.
The motion was approved unanimously.
Shelley Bradford-Bell asked to begin holding monthly Cultural Center director meetings, especially as the Commission staff develops the process for Cultural Center evaluation.
- WritersCorps Report
Ms. Nemzoff introduced the following motion and explained that it covered teachers and artists for the 2005-2006 WritersCorps. Teachers' pay increases by the number of years they have been with the program.
Commissioner Cuellar made the following motion:
Motion for the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into contract with the following individuals to teach in the WritersCorps program for 2005-2006:
Alberto Palomar $25,087.50
Chad Sweeney $32,000.00
Meroe Elahi $26,950.00
Michelle Matz $19,300.00
Andrew Saito $22,002.50
Chrissy Anderson-Zavala $22,202.50
Katharine Gin $24,269.00
Lise Swenson $10,000.00
Judith Tannenbaum $49,750.00
Kim Nelson $37,392.00
Funds are from Department of Children, Youth and Their Families, Department of Juvenile Probation, Youth Arts Fund, National Endowment for the Arts, and San Francisco Foundation.
The motion was approved unanimously.
Commissioner Brown adjourned the meeting at 2:50.
