The meeting was called to order at 1810.

Charles Coolidge, Bob De La Cruz, George Gibbs, Leonard Grube, Wallace Levin, Maceo May, CJ O1Mara, Glenn Raswyck, Edwin Wilkerson, Patsy Wilson and a quorum was present. Attorney Wayne Snodgrass, and Cheryl Cook were also present.

The agenda was approved unanimously with a hand vote. The minutes were approved unanimously with a hand vote.

Ms. Cheryl Cook from the SFCVSO, reported on the CVSO annual meeting. Commended Commissioner De La Cruz for a moving Memorial Day Service, and also commented on the opening of the Swords to Plowshares Veteran’s Academy ground breaking ceremony.

A. Secretary Presented reported that Leonard Grube, Charles Coolidge, Maceo May, CJ O’Mara and Robert De La Cruz, were reappointed to there seats. Yearly report for 1998, as amended, was unanimously approved with a hand vote.

B. Health and Welfare Committee- C. May reported on the Swords to Plowshares Veteran’s Academy ground breaking. Ceremony and the hopes and plans for the future of a very promising program.

C. Legislative Committee- Report on state of the Northern California Cemetery concerns of a lack of available sites by C. De La Cruz..-Consideration of any and all pending state legislation by the State of California.

- C. Levin asked that a reaffirmation of the of the 1992 Anti- Discrimination Resolution be put on the agenda of the next meeting of the commission.

-C. Levin updated the commission on the VWM Building.


Update by. C. O’Mara on the access to the internet for the Commissioners.

-Discussion on the planned increase in matching funds for CDVA "homeless" programs

-Discussion on communication with other Veteran’s Affairs Commissions state-wide.

-Announcement of American Legion, Alexander Hamilton Post

448, who will host a spaghetti dinner on August 28th, at 6:00PM, in room 202 in the WM Building.

  • C. De La Cruz announced that the AMVETS had donated a wheelchair van to Ft. Miley VA Hospital.
-President Wilkerson announced the date of the Veteran Employment Committee Meeting.
