II. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES
Action Item: the Committee voted to approve the minutes of the March 21, 2007 meeting of the State Legislation Committee.
III. PROPOSED LEGISLATION
Action items: the Committee voted to take the following positions on legislation affecting the City and County of San Francisco:
A. HumanServices Agency StateLegislative Plan: establishes the City’s position on state legislation for the 2007-2008 session related to the Human Services Agency.
Position Taken: Support
B. AB 167 (Bass): to repeal the limit on the value of assets which can be owned by an applicant or recipient of CalWORKs.
Position Taken: Support
C. AB 1256 (Caballero): to amend the Density Bonus law to benefit cities that are already creating large amounts of affordable housing.
Position Taken: Continued until the April 18 meeting at the request of the Mayor’s Office of Housing.
D. AB 1303 (Smyth): to establish a grant program within Prop 84 for urban greening programs.
Position Taken: Support
E. AB 1590 (Leno): to authorize the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to place an initiative on the ballot to create a local Vehicle License Fee.
Position Taken: Sponsor
F. SB 11 (Migden): to allow opposite-sex partners to register with the State of California as domestic partners.
Position Taken: Support
G. AB xxx (Ma): to improve transit efficiency though authorization of photo-enforcement of parking violations in bus lanes and street sweeping zones.
Position Taken: Continued until the April 18 meeting at the request of Supervisor Peskin’s office.
IV. SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion item:
§ Catherine Stefani recommended AB 1471 for consideration at the next Committee meeting.
§ The Committee agreed to schedule a special meeting Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 3pm to consider pending legislation.
