TRAFFIC DELAYS EXPECTED DURING VAN NESS CONSTRUCTION
San Francisco, CA.- Motorists should expect delays on Van Ness Avenue when City crews mobilize to resurface it from Market to McAllister streets, beginning Sunday night (Oct. 25). The work hours are Sunday through Thursday nights, 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. No construction is scheduled for Friday or Saturday nights. The project will take about six weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Though two lanes of traffic will be maintained during construction on Van Ness – a component of state Highway 101 -- motorists are advised to use alternate routes during work hours. The grinding and paving of Van Ness by the Department of Public Works will begin Sunday on the northbound lanes fronting City Hall, a two-block stretch between Grove and McAllister streets, and continue through Wednesday night (Oct. 28).
Thursday night (Oct. 29), DPW crews will resurface the Van Ness-McAllister intersection, a one-night job. After the intersection, Van Ness Avenue’s southbound lanes, from McAllister to Market, will be reconstructed a block at a time, as will the northbound lanes from Market to Grove. The project will be completed before Thanksgiving.
