McLaren Lodge

San Francisco’s official holiday tree is located in front of  McLaren Lodge, Stanyan at Fell.  The tree is a grand Monterey Cypress, approximately 110 years old, adorned with thousands of colorful lights as San Francisco’s traditional sign of the holiday season.

“Uncle John’s Tree”, named in honor of John McLaren, who for 56 years was superintendent of Golden Gate Park, and the architect and visionary who guarded the creation and  development of our beloved Golden Gate Park on what was, before, more than 1000 acres of sandy dunes.

The Tree will be lit every night  through New Year’s.  If you would like more information please call 415.831-2700.
