The Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, located at 45 Shelley Drive in John McLaren Park, is one of the most spectacular performance venues in San Francisco. John McLaren Park is San Francisco's second largest park at 317 acres and is located in the southeast sector of the city. Unlike the city's more famous Golden Gate Park, which is noted for its horticultural splendor, McLaren Park is a natural park which rises from 275 ft. to 520 ft. above sea level. Its seven miles of hiking trails provide visitors access to a variety of beautiful settings and unparalleled views of the city. The park is ideal for hikers, nature lovers, bird watchers and folks simply interested in escaping the cacophony of urban life without having to leave the city. In addition to a large group picnic area, the park also provides small and private picnic facilities throughout.
