Pier 27 Cruise Terminal

Innovation, and environmental and economic development will come together at Pier 27 as the Port renovates the ten-acre Pier 27 into a cruise terminal and two-acre public plaza.

The Port will convert the Pier 27 shed into a vibrant year-round Cruise Terminal and community facility that will meet the evolved security and passenger handling demands of the cruise industry while also being configured to allow recreation and special event uses when not occupied for cruise purposes.  The Pier 27 Cruise Terminal will be built and managed with a combination of the highest sustainable design and day-to-day environmental practices.  Reuse of the existing pier and shed, building to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) practices, and aiming for a carbon neutral terminal will ensure the least initial environmental impact.  Shoreside power hook-up, gray and black-water connections, stormwater management, and employee public transportation options will allow efficient and clean ongoing operations.

A vision of the Pier 27 cruise terminal project is described below:

In 2008, the Port prepared preliminary site planning alternatives for Pier 27. The study is posted below (Pier 27 Cruise Terminal Site Planning Study).

In June 2009, the Port entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the San Francisco Department of Pubic Works for the Pier 27 Cruise Terminal project management, architectural and engineering services through schematic design.
