Project Description   Brannan Street Wharf is a new open space identified in the Port’s Waterfront Design & Access element and BCDC’s San Francisco Special Area Plan.  It will be a bayfront urban park containing approximately 57,000 s.f., to serve the neighborhood and the entire region, located on The Embarcadero between Pier 30-32 and 38.  The park will include opportunities to walk out over the water, quiet spaces to enjoy spectacular views, and facilities for regional events.

Status                              Following  input from the Brannan Street Wharf Citizen Advisory Committee and review by the Waterfront Design Advisory Committee and BCDC’s Design Review Board, the Port Commission on August 12, 2003 approved the concept design for the Brannan Street Wharf.  The Port has removed Pier 34 in preparation for the construction of the Brannan Street Wharf.

Pursuant to the Lease Disposition and Development Agreement with SFCT, the Port is currently preparing the Schematic Design Drawings for the Brannan Street Wharf, and will be seeking a BCDC Permit based upon these drawings.  SFCT will be responsible for costing the project, preparing the final construction drawings, obtaining administrative approvals, and constructing the project.  Funding for the $15 Million Brannan Street Wharf will be provided from the $9 Million land sale proceeds from the ½ acre condominium site on SWL 330 to SFCT plus accumulated Special Area Plan Funds in the Port’s Capital Budget.   Demolition of Pier 36 and construction of the Brannan Street Wharf are scheduled to commence when full funding and entitlements are in place,.

Project Approvals            The project will require permits from BCDC, the SFRWQCB, and the Army Corp of Engineers.  A building permit will also be required.
