The best time to prepare for an emergency is before it happens. Print out the checklists and information sheets below and keep copies in an easy-to-reach location for immediate reference. Make a Plan (PDF). After a major disaster, it is unlikely that emergency response services will be able to immediately respond to everyone's needs, so it's important to be prepared. The Make a Plan checklist will help you and your family prepare for an emergency.
Build a Kit (PDF). After a major disaster the usual services we take for granted, such as running water, refrigeration, and telephones may be unavailable. The Build a Kit checklist will enable you and your family to be self-sufficient for at least three days. If you’d like to purchase a kit, City and County of San Francisco employees and their families can take advantage of discounts provided by the vendors below. The discount code for both vendors is SFDSW. Disclaimer Notice: The City and County of San Francisco does not endorse any provider or product listed above. Rather, the information is provided only to inform City employees of discounts available to them in the event they wish to purchase emergency kits for their personal use. Be Prepared at Work (PDF). This checklist will help you in the event that a disaster strikes while you are at work.
After the Disaster (PDF). This informational one-page document summarizes what employees should know and do after a disaster. DSW Job Categories and Examples of Duties (PDF). This one page document provides an overview of what to expect as a disaster service worker. The Emergency Pocket Guide (PDF) is a summary of all the information you need to know in the event of an emergency, shrunk into a wallet or pocket size document so that you can keep it with you at all times. The DSW Brochure (PDF) is a four-color document that can be printed and distributed to City Employees. Like the pocket guide, it is a summary of all the information about the Disaster Service Worker program, including an overview of what to do in an emergency, as well as helpful tips for emergency planning. The DSW Discussion Guide (PDF) is a resource intended to accompany the DSW training video. |
