Department on the Status of Women
In 2003, the Department on the Status of Women released the groundbreaking report: "A Report on Girls in San Francisco, Benchmarks for the Future."
A number of new programs have arisen from this landmark work, including the Commission on the Status of Women Girls Committee. In 2007, the Committee served as the Youth Steering Committee for the 2007 Girl Fest Bay Area, and collaborated with the Marin Institute to support legislation limiting the sale of "Alcopops,” sweetened, soda-pop style alcoholic drinks.
