Current Projects of the Asthma Task Force Clinical Committee:
(1) Asthma 101 Workshops for SF After-School and Childcare Providers
The Asthma Task Force Clinical Committee is working with the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF) to provide Asthma 101 Training for After School Care Providers citywide. E-mail Andrea Crosby, NP for further information: andrea.crosby@sfdph.org
(2) Asthma Updates for SF Clinical Staff

(3) Quality Improvement of Asthma Clinical Care Grants Awarded to Asthma Task Force

The Asthma Task Force is implementing a grant awarded by Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Community Benefits, entitled "Your Clinic As An Agent of Change". Kaiser Permanente has also awarded the Task Force a $25,000 grant for its "Making Patients Part of the Team" project, extending our current quality improvement support to several community clinics. This is Kaiser's third community benefits award to the Task Force for this quality assurance support work.
The Asthma Task Force is completing a grant awarded by California Pacific Medical Center Community Health Programs, entitled "Pediatric Asthma Hospitalizations", which researched perceptions on the causes of pediatric asthma hospitalizations from parents and from admitting medical providers. Research findings and recommendations will be published once available.
(4) Quality Improvement of Office-Based Spirometry
The Asthma Task Force has funded three clinical practices to participate in University of Washington's 4-session webinar, the Spirometry Learning Lab, which provides case-based teaching of spirometry in practice. Participating clinics are: Tom Waddell Health Center, Healthy San Francisco Asthma/COPD Program at SFGH, and SFGH Pediatric Asthma Clinic.
