Proposition 36 (Substance Abuse Crime Prevention Act)
The Substance Abuse and Crime Prevention Act, also known as Proposition 36, was passed in 2000. This vote permanently changed state law to allow persons convicted ofGolden Gate Bridge and Fog certain crimes the opportunity to receive substance abuse treatment instead of incarceration. The Adult Probation Department provides monitoring and supervision of defendants participating in Proposition 36, providing status reports to the Court and referrals to Department of Public Health, Treatment Access Program (TAP) for treatment to defendants.

Drug Court
The Adult Probation Department provides staffing to Adult Drug Court. The Adult Drug Court is a collaborative effort between the Probation Department, Department of Public Health, the Superior Court, the District Attorney and the Public Defender provides the monitoring and treatment services to defendants whose criminality is directly related to their substance abuse.

Drug Diversion
Downtown San Francisco and Cable CArThe drug Diversion program monitors first time drug offenders for treatment and substance abuse education program completion. Upon completion of the program charges are dismissed.

Drug Abatement
Provides intensive supervision to cases, by working closely with both law enforcement and treatment providers, and contacting probationers frequently both in the office and in the community.

Mentally Ill Offender 
The Adult Probation provides intensive supervision to cases, by working closely with treatment providers, a centralized Court, other entities within the criminal justice system and seeing  probationers frequently both in the office and in the community.

Sex Offender
Victorian Houses in San Francsico Sex offenders are required to register annually within 5 days of his/her birthday, or more frequently if transient or homeless. Pursuant to provisions of Section 290 of the Penal Code, the duty to register is a lifetime requirement.

Whenever a registrant moves, they must notify both the jurisdiction into which they move and the jurisdiction in which they last registered.

In an effort to improve service delivery to Sex Offender clients and for the protection of the community, the Adult Probation Department provides intensive supervision and utilizes community resources to reduce illegal behaviors of sexual offenders.

Domestic Violence
Golden Gate Bridge and CityThe purpose of the Domestic Violence program is to develop an aggressive and integrated criminal justice response to spousal abuse that will break the cycle of domestic violence. Its premise is that arrests alone will not stop domestic violence and that system-wide coordination and collaboration among criminal justice  agencies and non-profit, non-government domestic violence and sexual assault programs are essential to success.

DUI
The DUI Program deals with first time offenders as well as repeating offenders. Probationers are referred to treatment providers and upon completion of their programs, payments of  fines and fees are giving the opportunity to reactivate their driving privileges.
