Toni's Kitty Rescue is a 501(c)3 rescue organization that works with Animal Care & Control to provide foster care for abandoned and orphaned underage kittens. Please call (415) 554-9414 to reserve a spot in an ACC New Volunteer Orientation if you are interested in becoming a foster kitten volunteer during the 2010 Kitten Season. Foster parents care for kittens -- in their own homes -- until they are ready to be adopted. Fostering kittens is a great way for kids too young to volunteer at the shelter to learn about aniaml welfare and earn community service credit. Kittens pictured on this page are currently in foster care, and some may not be ready for adoption. All kittens listed as Male or Female will be neutered or spayed before going home.

'Kitten Season' starts each year in early Spring and runs through late Fall. During that time, mother cats all over the city give birth to countless litters -- and many of these underage kittens end up at Animal Care & Control, abandoned or orphaned. The Animal Care & Control Kitten Foster Parents care for these kittens, in their homes, until they reach an adoptable age or weight. This past year, the Animal Care & Control Foster Parents successfully raised and adopted out over 900 kittens! Animal Care & Control appreciates donations blankets, towels, heating pads and dog kennels/crates to assist the foster program. Despite his size, Three is a though little guy who is not afraid to take on a kitten twice his weight. He gallops like a manic miniature horse and he'll chase anything that moves, but Three is just as sweet as he is wild. This scrappy little gray and white runt has always thrived with a little extra love and he really enjoys spending quality time with a human companion - snuggling up against their chest and watching movies from his favorite spot inside the breast of their partially zipped sweater. Three is also the best little spoon you will ever find and loves purring loudly under the covers nestled against you, with his back pressed into your stomach and his paws outstretched. At still only under 3lbs, Three is a small cat to be sure, but he's got a big purr (he sounds like he’s got a mini-motor running that never stops) and an even bigger heart and he eagerly awaits your comfy sofa and awesome DVD collection.

After a satisfying bout of play, Two likes to snuggle up with her human friends and purr contentedly as they read a book or browse the web. With her soft fur, baby-doll face and loving personality she makes an excellent companion and possibly an even better neck warmer as she frequently settles down for a nap right atop your chest. She seems to be growing both cuter and sweeter with age and is becoming known for her signature midnight eskimo kisses, gentle licks, and playful-pawful hair-styling. Two is 3 lbs of fun and love and is currently taking bids to set out and explore the new territories and make new friends as the newest member of your home and family.

Description: These are king pigeons that came in separately as strays but met in foster care and now are a bonded couple. Pigeons lay two eggs and then take turns sitting on them for three weeks. Their real eggs are replaced with wooden eggs as pigeon birth control. (Adoption includes a set of wooden eggs). Tank and Country are both big birds but Tank is especially huge!
