1.0               Call to Order

Commission President Bobbrie Brown called the Thursday, February 10, 2005 meeting to order at 6:08 p.m. in the Alex L. Pitcher Community Room at 1800 Oakdale Avenue.

 

The Commissioner Secretary read the Sunshine Ordinance aloud.

 

1.2              Roll Call

Commissioners Present: Brown; Fuentes; Jones; Kennedy; Larkin; Person; Sampson

Staff Present: John Roddy, Deputy City Attorney; Annette Price, Comm.-Sect
           

1.3              Consent Calendar

(a)    RESOLUTION (SECFC-2005-27) Be it resolved that the minutes of the Southeast Community Facility Commission meeting of Wednesday, January 26, 2005 be approved as submitted (passed unanimously).

 

2.0               Public Comment
Ms Ardis Graham, SFPUC staff reported that the 9910 Service Aide Trainee job announcement has been updated with minor changes as requested and stated he’d be happy to answer questions.

3.0               Communications:
The Commission Secretary reported the following correspondence has been sent as directed: Letters of invitation to Sean Gallagher, CPUC, Larry Ng, PG&E re: Underground wiring conversion program. Fred B. Williamson, Wells Fargo Bank; David Terzian, The Point Artists Studio’s Hunters Point Shipyard.

4.0               Director’s Report
This item was tabled until the next meeting of February 23, 2005.
 

5.0               Old & Ongoing Business:
Comm. Brown
reminded that at the last meeting on 1/26/05, the Commission and community voiced concerns regarding certain requirements listed in the employment announcement for the 9910 position and asked that they be revised. Per Mr. Ardis Graham, all changes have been made and copies of the employment announcement are available.



6.0               Introduction of New Business by Commissioners:
President Brown reported that the SFPUC Rates Review Board is currently holding public hearings throughout the city regarding sewage rate increase, flooding issues, etc., and that the Board will present before the Commission on March 10, 2005.

Comm. Kennedy suggested that a letter of invitation be sent to Mr. Keith Foreman, Environmental Coordinator of BRAC to present on clean-up efforts at the BVHP shipyard. She also suggested that perhaps the Commission and ROSES work together to support one another by attending meetings.

7.0               Public Comment
  There was no public comment at this time.

8.0               Announcements:
The Commission Secretary announced that a farewell dinner for Comm. Larkin would be held on Thursday, March 10 immediately following the Commission meeting at the Old Clam House on Bayshore Blvd.

Comm. Fuentes announced that the Acorn group would hold a public meeting on Saturday at the Alex Pitcher Community Room to address violence in BVHP community.

Comm. Kennedy announced that the groundbreaking for shipyard housing will take place on March 17th and asked that staff provide addresses of all Commissioners so that invitations could be mailed.

President Brown acknowledged Commissioner Larkin’s arrival (6:25).

Comm. Sampson thanked the Commission for acknowledging his 16th Pastoral Anniversary by presenting him with a Resolution of Commendation on Sunday, Jan 30th.

Ms. Esther Blanchard announced that on February 22 at 6:30 p.m. Providence Baptist Church would hold a meeting to address community and policing issues coordinated by Ms. Katski from SFOP. Ms. Blanchard also thanked both Commissioners Larkin and Kennedy for the help they have given to the community.
